Guidelines for Cheap Car Rental
1. If you will be renting a car overseas make the reservation at home – it is cheaper. 2. Cars with standard transmissions are often cheaper to rent than those with automatic transmissions. 3. If you will be renting a car for less than seven days, compare the weekly rate to the total cost at the daily rate. If the former is cheaper, rent at the weekly rate. There is no penalty for returning the car early. 4. Reserve your car more than a week in advance for the best deals. 5. Membership has its advantages – there are sometimes discounts with membership in certain organizations like the American Automobile Association (AAA) or the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Check it out.
When you first pick up your rental car:
1. Ask for an extra key just in case you lock yourself out of the car. 2. Make sure you are familiar with how your rental car operates before you leave the lot. Locate the gas tank (and how to open it), wipers, lights, horn, signal lights and gear shift. Don’t hesitate to ask staff where to find something or how it works.
Plan your travel route before you leave home. Using this information, make your car rental reservations. |
